Three months ago, President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the Basic Education Laws Amendment Bill (Bela Bill) into law but announced he would be suspending the implementation of two specific clauses in the bill for a three-month consultation period. Since then, the bill has been met with a number of objections. We are in conversation with Nichelle Baptiste who is the head of the department at Southdown College in Centurion as we give a teachers approach to how schools can implement the Bella Bill.
