With many of us far removed from their reality is the fact that for persons with visual impairments and blindness, access to reading materials is often an uphill battle.
Currently South Africa’s copyright laws prohibit books being published in Braille or other formats accessible to people who are visually impaired without the author or publisher’s permission. To unpack this and more we speak to Senior Attorney at SECTION27, Demichelle Petherbridge.
