A surprise raid at the Mangaung Correctional Centre (MCC), once home to notorious Facebook rapist Thabo Bester, saw prisoners subjected to intense searches by Correctional Services officials. Inmates were ordered to kneel with hands against the wall as their cells were thoroughly inspected for contraband. Mattresses, toilet rims, and light fixtures were all checked for hidden illegal items. The operation, aimed at enhancing security, was led by Makgothi Thobakgale, National Commissioner of the Department of Correctional Services.
