Six months later, and still no recruitment of 10 000 labour inspectors promised at SONA

The government has yet to hire any of the 10,000 promised additional labour inspectors, leaving the expansion completely on hold as of August 2026. In a written Parliamentary reply, Employment and Labour Minister Nomakhosazana Meth revealed that recruitment remains paused while the department waits to secure the necessary budget from the National Treasury.
