The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is investigating 1,055 parents and unqualified NSFAS beneficiaries linked to more than R126 million in irregular funding. The probe follows findings of misrepresentation and possible fraud in financial aid applications. While some funds have been repaid, criminal prosecution remains a possibility where fraud is proven. SIU Spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago says accountability processes are ongoing to recover public funds and uphold the integrity of NSFAS.
