We spoke to Dr. Wisani Makhomisane of Goodwill Mental Health Centre about Postpartum Depression (PPD) in South Africa. Often misunderstood in rural and traditional communities, cultural pressures for women to be strong cause silence and stigma. Unequal parenting roles deepen isolation, while limited mental health access worsens the crisis.
