Given the public sector’s deep reliance on the Scheme and the size of its membership base—over 890,000 principal members and more than 2.4 million beneficiarie the announcement generated immediate national interest, prompting GEMS leadership to host an editorial breakfast on 4 December 2025 to provide clarity and deeper insight into the rationale behind the adjustment and the broader strategic direction of the Scheme.
