The Pretoria High Court is expected to deliver judgement on whether anyone should be held criminally liable for the deaths of 144 Life Esidimeni psychiatric patients. The patients were transferred from the Life Esidimeni facilities to NGOs in what was described as a marathon project following budget cuts by the Gauteng government. The Life Esidomeni Inquest wrapped up hearing evidence from those allegedly involved in May last year, after almost two years of oral testimony.
