The Treatment Action Campaign and Doctors without Borders, both represented by Section 27, have been admitted by the Pretoria High Court, as friends of the court in a compulsory license application for access to a lifesaving drug to treat cystic fibrosis. The drug called Trikafta is not available in South Africa, however,  Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc, an American pharmaceutical company has patented Trikafta in South Africa.
