Earlier this month, a struggling municipal council in the North West received documents intended to justify the approval of a R15 billion power project. However, these documents were reportedly hastily compiled by an uninformed official who altered some of the figures. This claim was made by Ike Boss, spokesperson for Urban Blue International Development (Ubid), which is planning the project in collaboration with the City of Matlosana municipality, located near Klerksdorp. The municipality currently owes billions of rand to Eskom and its bulk water supplier, Midvaal Water Company. Thabiso Kotane speaks to MEC for Economic Development in the North West, Bitsa Lenkopane.
