The ANC experienced its best by-election night in 2025 and arguably its second-best performance since the 2024 national elections. The party successfully retained wards in Soweto and in Mpofana Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal. Additionally, it won a ward from a local party in Nama Khoi, Northern Cape.
