SCOPA WANTS TO CALL FORMER SITA BOARD MEMBERS TO ACCOUNT FOR AGENCY'S PROBLEMS

The South African Post Office (SAPO) has signed a R381 million agreement with the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) to preserve jobs and support the organization's recovery plan. This funding will be provided through the UIF's Temporary Employer-Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) over a six-month period. The agreement is expected to help protect nearly 6,000 jobs at the financially troubled entity. Thabiso Kotane speaks General secretary Democratic Postal and Communications Union, Levy Zwane.

Three additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) officer in Vlakfontein last week. The suspects, aged between 20 and 35, were allegedly found in possession of the slain officer’s service pistol, which was stolen during the attack. According to Gauteng Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale, the arrests were made over the weekend in Dobsonville, Soweto.
