The Democratic Alliance (DA) has filed an urgent application to interdict the implementation of the 0.5% value-added tax (VAT) increase before the Western Cape High Court. The announcement was made at a briefing in Cape Town earlier today. The party wants the implementation of the hike suspended pending the outcome of the review application. The fiscal framework was passed in Parliament yesterday, with 194 votes in favour.  Thabiso Kotane speaks to Political Analyst, Botsang Moiloa.
