'Sham' debit orders - groundbreaking class action suit can go ahead, says ConCourt

Noluthando Mthonti-Mlambo speaks to Odwa Nweba, Legal Practitioner at the Stellenbosch University Law Clinic about South Africa's first consumer class action lawsuit which has cleared its final appeal, paving the way for a trial against a dozen websites accused of tricking users into signing up for unwanted debit orders. Last month, the Constitutional Court rejected an appeal to certify Stellenbosch University's law clinic as the legal representative for hundreds of South Africans whose bank accounts were debited after visiting loan websites.
