Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has unveiled ambitious new proposals aimed at overhauling South Africa’s electricity tariff system. Under the proposed framework, municipal power bills will be fully unbundled to reveal exact costs for transmission, distribution, and administration, while placing a strict cap on how much technical loss and theft councils can pass on to paying consumers.
