The Future of Placemaking: How Mixed-Use Precincts Are Driving Economic Growth in South Africa.

This one-hour in-studio panel brings together three Attacq executives and an independent economist for a market-level discussion on urban economics, infrastructure and commercial property. Using Waterfall City, a 2,200-hectare mixed-use precinct combining retail, office, logistics, residential and data infrastructure, as a worked example rather than a showcase, the panel will explore how precincts are increasingly performing functions such as reliable power, water security, road capacity and logistics throughput.

The conversation covers four themes: the return and evolution of office space; logistics as economic infrastructure; private investment in bulk infrastructure (power, water and roads); and precincts as economic hubs driving business tourism, events and hospitality. The economist will test, challenge and contextualise Attacq's operating evidence within the national and Gauteng economic picture, closing on what precinct-led growth needs from policy, municipalities and investors over the next decade.

Meet the panelists:

Development Executive at Attacq, David Oosthuizen

Chief Executive Officer at Attacq, Jackie van Niekerk

Head of Sustainability, Infrastructure and Land, Attacq, Lourens du Toit

Economist from John Loos Economics, John Loos
