29-year-old renowned from Khayelitsha has dedicated his life to rescuing the ‘Great African Kelp Forest’, the only forest of giant bamboo seaweed on the planet, which stretches from the Cape north for more than 1,000 km into Namibia.
Loyiso Dunga, affectionately known as the “Kelp Keeper” from Cape Town, has been studying marine algae for over 10 years and has dedicated his life to educating people about their importance in our ecosystem.
He spoke to Thabiso Tema about his passion.
