The SA Insurance Association has agreed to make used vehicles identification numbers public allowing consumers to know if the vehicle they are considering has been in a serious collision and has been written off before. This comes after mounting pressure from the South African Motor Body Repairers’ Association saying that there have been too many incidents where buyers were unbeknownst to them buying written off second-hand cars which could cause serious accidents as they are not roadworthy.
