Sibanye-Stilwater has dismissed more than 200 mineworkers who staged an underground protest at one of its shafts in Rustenburg last week. The miners, affiliated to unions NUM and AMCU, downed tools on Monday against the proposed Employee Share Ownership Scheme for Kroondal mine employees. The mine management said the dividends would not be paid due to an outstanding 50% acquisition of Anglo Platinum’s share in the Kroondal mine, which has yet to be concluded. FlySafair's international operations are under threat after the International Air Services Council (IASC) ruled that the airline's shareholding structure violates foreign-ownership limitations in licensing regulations."The IASC has concluded that FlySafair's shareholding structure, particularly regarding the involvement of Irish-based ASL Aviation Holdings, is not compliant with the regulation surrounding foreign control limitations," said Safair in a statement after the ruling on 1 November.A 2019 deal by ASL to acquire an effective 74.86% ownership stake in Safair, the parent company of low-cost airline FlySafair, is the source of the regulatory issues. Safair’s flights under threat after regulator rules it violated foreign-ownership rules

Communications & digital technologies minister Solly Malatsi has canned the SABC Bill, saying it does not address the cash-strapped broadcaster’s funding model while giving one politician too much control overboard appointments.Malatsi this week wrote to National Assembly speaker Thoko Didiza to say he was withdrawing the “totally flawed” bill. He said the bill deferred the finalisation of the SABC’s new funding model by three years from its date of passage. Thabiso Tema spoke with Mondli Gungubele, Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technology.
