Briefing media on the state of readiness for the 2024 academic year and NSFAS related issues earlier today, Nzimande said while they try to enhance students’ employability and promote entrepreneurship, TVET colleges are required to establish partnerships with industries for placement of students. Meanwhile the minister also confirmed that as of 21 January 2024, NSFAS has received 1.5 million bursary applications, and has provisionally funded 657 703 applicants of which mainly are SASSA beneficiaries.
