The Gauteng Liquor Traders Association (GLTA) has come out swinging against proposed liquor license fee increases, labeling them a direct threat to township-based micro-businesses. The association argues that the Gauteng Liquor Board is attempting to squeeze more money out of a "broken and unworkable" regulatory system. Spokesperson Jongikhaya Kraai slammed the move, noting that many traders are drowning in a two-year backlog of license approvals and suffocating red tape.
