South Africa’s Chapter 9 institutions have launched a landmark National Inquiry into the country’s criminal justice response to Gender-Based Violence and Femicide. The inquiry will assess whether survivors are receiving the protection, support and justice promised by the Constitution, with a particular focus on their lived experiences before cases even reach the courts.
