View descriptionShare

Ricky Adams is driven by a desire to build a community hub in her town. The Darling Heights state school in Toowoomba, is Queensland's most ethnically diverse primary school. Students from refugee and migrant families speak forty-one languages and many of the parents speak no English and are illiterate in their own tongue. In response the school and the local community have developed a unique support system for the families, including a breakfast club, a men's shed, English, gardening, sewing and parenting classes. Parent and student engagement officer Ricky Adams is tireless in her support for the families and has many wonderful stories to tell about life at Darling Heights.
