As many as 12000 people could die per day by the end of the year as a result of hunger linked to COVID-19. This is a warning by the global non-profit organisation Oxfam. In a new briefing published this week, the charity reveals the world's ten worst hunger hotspots - places such as Venezuela and South Sudan where the food crisis is most severe and getting worse as a result of the pandemic. This Mandela day on the 18th of July, the non-profit organization Ladles of Love, has set out to break the Guinness World Record for the world's largest mosaic created entirely out of cans of food. The attempts will take place in Cape Town and Johannesburg. The food cans collected for the mosaic will be donated to communities in need and money raised will feed the hungry. The trans community often struggle to access health care and face unfair discrimination in access to education, sport, employment, and social security.
