In May 2020, the UN General Assembly established the International Day to Protect Education from Attack to take place on 9 September, a resolution spearheaded by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, former first lady of Qatar and Chairperson of 'Education Above All' Foundation. The Day draws attention to the plight of more than 75-million pupils living in thirty-five crisis-affected countries and to their urgent need of educational support.
