I actually have this might be an unpopular opinion. I feel like people want to hear what they want to hear oftentimes my thoughts about Sabine and Ezra. I remember having not just one, but multiple conversations with Dave Filoni about this, and it was that we both agreed. And I don't know Taylor if we were in these conversations, all three of us together, but I felt and day and day let me say, Dave felt, and I very much wholeheartedly agreed with this that like it's so important to illustrate really healthy, completely platonic relationships between male and female characters, Like there's just not enough of that. I feel like, I feel like it's it's a really healthy thing to see that. And so of course, you know, at the beginning, there's like this, well you know, poor poor poor little Ezra just really really trying. But you know, it's, in my opinion, it's okay that they don't end up together romantically like in our show. Like I think it's okay that they like develop this like unbreakable bond, this like really intimate, loving, supportive relationship, but that it doesn't have to be romantic. It can be platonic and that doesn't sort of negate or like you know, make their relationship any less important or any less real or any less meaningful. And I personally, like I've gone through life with tons of very very close, very dear platonic friendships with men, and I just wish that we got to see that more. Like it doesn't you know, a man and a woman or a girl and a guy, characters that are deeply connect with each other don't always have to end up in a romantic relationship, And so for me, I know that's not what people necessarily want to hear, but I think it's really refreshing to see this version of a male and female character developing a bond and developing a relationship that doesn't necessarily go where you expect it to go or where it often does in film and television.

So much of it was like, Okay, well, there's gonna be someone that you're attracted to, and this is the story that I think I was so used to that and conditioned to think that's what it's gonna be that I remember asking Dave partly through like okay, so who's like the love interest for Ezra because that's gonna have to play out that's how the story goes, And he gave an answer like that in a response about it's sort of beyond that, and I think they are dealing with much bigger issues about goodness in the world, and Ezra's in this existential sort of battle the entire time that there's any You don't even care that they aren't fulfilling this sort of romantic narrative that we have for so many characters in our mind. But when you watch things, I do find it kind of funny that we are really really conditioned to be like Okay, well, this must be the overarching goal of this character, that they want to be with someone, And I don't think that you necessarily need that. So I do like that about stars. It's something I say conventions often fans. I like that they don't make that the leading objective for characters.

That's why they would have cameras set up at each of our microphone stations and they would actually send our performance of that episode to the animators, and that they would sort of use those to inform the animation for each episode, which is really cool to see.
