History repeats: The Ukrainian Aussie forced to run from Nazis

View descriptionShare

The war in Ukraine that has seen towns and cities bombed has lead to a major humanitarian crisis with millions fleeing their homes.

At least two million civilians have already left the country, with that number expected to grow to up to four million. Countless others are displaced internally, no longer able to return to their homes.

But this is far from the first time Ukrainians have been forced to flee their country as a result of an invading foreign army.

Today on Please Explain national property editor Chris Harrison, who has written about his mother’s experience of fleeing the Nazis as a child, joins Nathanael Cooper to share her story and how she is seeing history repeat as another foreign dictator sends troops to capture the country.
