Groton could not have started any better after shutting out Trumansburg 17-0 in the first quarter. After that the Red Hawks stayed in control and won the game 51-29. Violet Santspree was the primary offensive threat scoring 19 points in the game.

The teams traded buckets through the first three quarters, but a late surge from the Lake Hawks gave them a nine-point lead entering the fourth. The Black Knights battled back, forced costly turnovers in the final minute, and took the lead late to secure a 58-56 win, claiming their first sectional title since 1999

After a scoreless first period, the Panthers turned up the pressure, scoring four goals over the final two periods en route to a 4-0 victory and a trip to Buffalo for the state final four.
