Welcome to the latest edition of the Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast. This is Journal sports writer Bill Koch, and I'm joined as always by a pair of sports directors -- Nick Coit from ABC 6 and WEEI Providence, Morey Hershgordon from WPRI and Fox Providence.
We dig into Bryant's upset of Syracuse (1:20), a fight in the first half and the latest round of complaints from Jim Boeheim. Providence (17:30) is up next -- the Friars face a critical trip to TCU off the back of two home wins.
URI (30:40) suffered a road loss in a rock fight at Boston College. The Rams are improving but not quite ready to get over the hump just yet. Brown (40:40) held on in a home game against Maine and looks to build some momentum at Central Connecticut.
The Bears women (45:50) are on a five-game winning streak and one victory shy of their total for all of 2021-22. They host a Mental Health Awareness game against Holy Cross on Wednesday -- it's such an important issue.
The Friars women (55:20) enter Big East play this week off a three-game sweep of their Friar Thanksgiving Classic. Two ranked foes await Providence -- No. 3 Connecticut on Friday and No. 25 Villanova at home on Sunday.
The Rams women (61:00) made easy work of a two-game Florida swing and sit at 5-1. They're back home for a strong mid-major showdown with Buffalo on Thursday.
Lastly, we offer condolences to the family of Don Kaull (66:00). The former URI forward and long-time Rams radio color man passed away over the weekend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Thanks as always for listening.
