When the first COVID vaccines were released in December 2020, many states signed onto the federal government’s plan to vaccinate residents of long-term care facilities, using two national pharmacy chains.
West Virginia was different.
Our guests are two pharmacists who developed, and then executed the plan that made West Virginia a national leader in vaccination rates for long-term residents against COVID-19.
They are Krista D. Capehart , PharmD, BCACP, an APhA Fellow who is director of professional regulatory affairs for the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy and an associate professor of pharmacy at University of West Virginia; and Gretchen Kreckel Garofoli , PharmD, BCACP, a pharmacist in Morgantown, West Virginia, who is also the leader of APhA’s Special Interest Group, Immunizing Pharmacists.
