All the Christian churches came together for an open air service in the Square on Good Friday morning, with around 200 people.
The Reverend Amanda Sim spoke about the troubles of everyday life - from violence, abuse, to addictions and depressions - and said "you are not alone."
The Salvation Army band led the singing and after a Blessing of the town, people went into St Peters for Hot Cross Buns.
