87 people signed up for volunteering with the 11 causes displayed at the Volunteers Fair on Saturday, 26 September. 

It was hosted and organised by Home Start Butser and Winton House for East Hants Council. 

Community Development Officer Lisa says this event was one of a number where 120 organisations present their volunteering opportunities to local people.

With a great footfall on the day, including East Hants Council's Chairwoman, Cllr Penny Flux, our Town Criers, Petersfield's Mayor and Deputy Mayor (who both volunteer) and lots of people looking to vounteer in the sunshine in the Winton House Garden.

We hear from the 11 organisations present and the variety of motives people have for volunteering.

Winton House Garden the site for successful volunteer drive

And the football rolls on with all our local sides in action over the weekend. This Saturday we travel to Liphook to see the men's side take on North Waltham in a cup game. This team are strong and united and gain some solid results in the league but cup games are also important. https://www.liphookunitedfootballclub.org/ . The Liphook ladies after a stunning 5-1 result last weekend are back in action on Sunday. Liss Athletic moved to the next stage in the Portsmouth Seniors cup last weekend but in the league they desperately need points. An away tie against Broughton awaits. https://www.pitchero.com/clubs/lissathletic/ . And Petersfield men's rams are struggling for points just now and won't have it easy against 5th placed Sturminster at home. As underdogs, an they get something out of the game? https://petersfieldtownfc.co.uk/ . As For the women's rams, after 3 games they are still looking for their first points, will the Sunday game against Gosport reap rewards. Petersfield rugby club had a stuttering start last weekend. But now its time to kick into gear as Guildford host a game the Field should be favourites in. And still with rugby, the Petersfield women's side finally begin their campaign in a tricky away tie versus Alton https://www.petersfieldrfc.club/ . Petersfield Hockey sides have found it tough going so far in their season campaigns although the women's side had a terrific victory last weekend. In the Sportlight 4th October

Kathy Mclaughlan lives in Wimbledon. 

Now 99 years old, she talks to Mike Waddington about joining the Winton Players in 1948, and the productions she was part of up to 1957.

She remembers the founder, Joan Sare, with great affection and one of Winton's alumni, Edward Kelsey, who went on to fame in The Archers.

Quite probably the surviving member of the founders, Kathy remembers it all, recalled with great enthusiasm and excitement.

9 year old Charlie is cycling the Shipwrights Way this weekend to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. He came up with the idea of fundraising and chose Macmillan as three of his family members have been supported through cancer treatment. We hear from his very proud Nana and Mum and speak to Charlie about his fundraising.
