The mid summer Feast of St Barnabas and the Blessing of the Bower is held at Walldown Monument in Whitehill every year.

Gilbert White wrote of the association between St Barnabas Day and the construction of a Bower at Waldon. The Woolmer Forest Heritage Society now follow the traditions of Gilbert White to this day.
