Swarm coordinator and apiary manager Rowan Roberts gives us a tour around this fascinating location, new beekeeper Debbie Barnes enthuses about her hobby and experienced beekeeper David Parkinson tell us all about honey and wax.

Jon Walker from the Petersfield Post has been ‘buzy’ gathering your local news and Suzie visits the Hangers for her Wilde Walk. 

We end the P pod with a cool track from local band Barbudo and their song ‘My Only’.

the P pod - Petersfield personalities show - 30th Aug 2021

A passionate group of Viking re-enactors is bringing history to life across the Petersphere, showcasing traditional crafts, rune writing and immersive storytelling at local events.

Bjarnarfolk also gathers twice a month at Petersfield Community Centre to hone their battle skills. While their battle dress may make them look like a fearsome band of warriors, Jo Gray recently received a particularly warm welcome.

Stanley Edward and his fellow re-enactors share their passion for history, their enthusiasm for the hobby, and the wider benefits it offers to those who take part.

The group is open to all. Anyone interested in joining can get in touch via the Bjarnarfolk Facebook page, where details of upcoming appearances and events are regularly shared.

There’s a real buzz inside Petersfield Festival Hall as preparations get underway for this year’s Petersfield Music Festival - and the Shine Radio P pod team went along to soak up the atmosphere.

This year is particularly special, as the festival celebrates its 125th anniversary, marking more than a century of bringing live music to audiences in the town.

On location during the busy set-up, presenters Julie Butler and Laura Sheppard hear the sounds of piano tuning and rehearsals as they chat to some of the people behind the event. They meet Festival Chair Pam Buckley, explore the festival’s long history with Philip Young, speak to members of the St Cat’s Ensemble, and catch up with BBC presenter and piano soloist Keelan Carew ahead of his performance.

From backstage preparations to reflections on the festival’s remarkable legacy, this Ppod offers a lively snapshot of one of Petersfield’s most cherished cultural traditions.
