Ahead of the start of the Petersfield Musical Festival they meet with Chair Pam Buckley to find out what exciting music is in store this year and talk to Mayor JC Crissey.

the P pod - Petersfield personalities: March 4th 2024

Sarah Walsh and Geoff Wotton are raising funds to send musical instruments donated by Rocksteady in Liphook, to a school in Jamaica, in an area badly damaged by Hurricane Melissa.

On Tuesday 2 March,  Annie Jones provided the venue free, local stores donated food, 60 people attended and £1,100 was raised. 

With the £700 they had raised beforehand they are almost at their £2000 target (there is a just giving page - see below.)

Shine Radio's Joffe Lacey, as it happens on the losing team that night, spoke to Geoff Wootton abut the project and the evening itself.

Quiz Nite raises funds for school in Jamaica

There has been delay after delay to the junction improvements both crossroads at Durford Road and at The Causeway.

Cllr Rob Mocatta said that it is frustrating that has taken so long. He will continue to push for the  work  to get started as soon as possible, especially at Durford Road that has now seen four accidents since the beginning of this year.

Two major junctions in Petersfield are due to be completed by the end of the year

Stonemason and best selling author, Andrew Ziminski spoke at St Peter’s on Wednesday 4 March.

Over 200 people listened to his tales and experiences of repairing churches (he also specialises in ancient bridges).

The audience was wholly rapt up when he spotlighted pieces of technique, purpose and designs. The wonders of self repairing lime cement a good example.

He had views about special features of St Peter's itself and Rev Hughes gave a speedy tour of the church with his usual flaiir and enthusiasm

The event was organised by Rural Strides and with One Tree Books doing a roaring trade in Andrew’s book Church Going; Andrew's next book is about castles.
