the P pod - Petersfield personalities - 26 June 2023: HomeStart Butser and the Summer Solstice

Over the August Bank Holiday weekend, the Shine Radio team headed down to Southsea seafront to soak up the festival atmosphere, discover local bands and artists, and seek out some interesting people to chat to.

Baby Said is a Portsmouth-based rock band formed by sisters Veronica Pal (lead guitar and lead vocals) and Jess Pal (bass and lead vocals).

Jo Gray caught up backstage with the two talented sisters, fresh from their performance on the Under The Trees Stage at Victorious Festival.

And keep an ear out for a much-needed refreshment getting kicked over… when it’s live, and anything can happen!

There’s plenty more from Victorious Festival to come, with more highlights landing very soon.

Home Start Butser, Petersfield's family support organisation, run a complex weave of services, volunteers and fundraising to pay for all they do supporting hundreds of families and children.

They have a Quiz Night (at Churcher's College on 30 October) and all this month - Sort Out in September - are collecting old jewellery, watches and so on, to convert to cash to fund what looks like being another record breaking year of support.

They are grateful to district councillors who have paid for some key projects.

Manager Nicola Winter talks to Mike Waddington about it all.
