A competition to be the first Petersfield Town Crier is down to the final two. And they're married.

Candidates Faye and Martin Thompson from Rival Moor Road have been left as the last two standing after a rival candidate cried off.

It means the competitive public town cry later this month could be a right family ding-dong.

The public event will be held in Rams Walk where Martin and Faye will compete to give the best public announcements, complete with costumes and hand bells. As husband and wife, it won't be the first time the two have exchanged rings.
