Jack Finch catches up with Cokey Sulkin who took over from the long standing Sue Beavis earlier this year in running the Three Horseshoes of Elsted. Becoming steward to this much loved historic tavern comes with a lot of expectations, however Cokey has taken to the challenge successfully by both preserving it's existing character but adding a few new features. we hear about Cokey's successes in running a gastro pub in London and back story in hospitality as well some of his visions for the Shoes.

The Winton House Centre on the High Street is home to Age Concern Petersfield, Homestart Butser, hospital transport (PVCG) and 10 other charities, as well as a venue for many community activities. 

It’s been a community resource for 100 years and needs funds for the long term upkeep of the Grade II Listed building.

Manager Sarah Moss says, perhaps surprisingly, there are easy ways to do this.

She talk to Mike Waddington (who also volunteers there) about how Businesses like Annie Jones and Waitrose support causes (Winton House is currently one of the three organisations in their token vote).

The organisation EasyFundRaising allows you to nominate a charity for retailers to donate to your choice.

Inevitably, there's a Quiz Night on 3 November and on 11 November between 7pm and 9pm there's a chance to meet local charities over a bowl of soup and you vote at the end where the money goes locally.

Major Building works leads Winton House to seek funds

Peter Hill, almost 90, was a recent guest at St Laurence's Welcome club on Station Road, where over coffee and cake, he spoke about Hawaii (a family connection) and also about his professional career at the BBC for over 30 years, including his time in the House of Commons.

Peter, who also speaks Russian, talks to Mike Waddington about his presentations at St Laurence's, his books, and his Room Guiding for the National Trust, mainly now at Petworth House.
