St Peters contains the history of Petersfield, going back to Norman times possibly earlier (King Alfred is commemorated in one of the windows); Reverend Hughes says that means people could have asked older relatives what they did at the Battle of Hastings!

However, some people with catapults damaged the historic Grade One Listed Building (some stained glass windows have still to be repaired) so CCTV cameras were installed and, says Reverend Will Hughes, they are working, with some recorded footage already passed to the police and people feeling safer.

Reverend Hughes spoke to Mike Waddington about the history of the Church and why it is the centre of the community.
