In a wickedly hot weekend and tricky playing conditions, Petersfield golf club host their annual championship over 36 holes for the men's and women's gross and handicap tournaments. Last weekend saw the annual Petersfield Football Club's Junior awards. The event recognises the best achievements from the Under 8s to the Under 16s boys and girls teams. Petersfield Golf Club elects a new president this month and for the first time in it's 124 year history it is a woman. In the Sportlight chats to Lesley Eaton about this historic moment and asks how she sees her new role and what she hopes to achieve. And it's fortuitous that it's a monster game because the Liphook Ladies can become Hampshire County Division 2 league champions with a win. Their opposition is the Wight Eagles but Liphook have a secret ace up their sleeve......Blue the mascot dog. Petersfield Rugby Club are running out of games as they try to sneak into 5th place and earn a chance at the end of season promotion play-offs. Rain-soaked Petersfield takes another battering this week but  a game for the men away to Wincanton goes ahead on Tuesday the 17th February. After a feisty encounter last week for Petersfield Rugby club, a calmer and more measured performance was required for an away game at Ellingham and Ringwood. The club is setting its sights on a promotion play-off place. https://www.petersfieldrfc.club/ In football, although the Rams men's senior side game was called off due to a water-logged pitch on Saturday, there's still a women's cup game on against Clanfield and the club also has a big announcement. https://www.petersfieldtownfc.co.uk/ . A monster clash for Pompey this weekend as they invite Southampton to Fratton Park for match of huge importance and high security. The excitement is building in the Haslemere table tennis league as the top 2 sides of College Hill and Petersfield A side are back in action, both looking to position themselves for the final home run. On Tuesday Petersfield Football club dropped a bombshell through social media that they were parting ways half way through the season with their overachieving manager Connor Hoare. This news rocked the Petersphere and just as the anger and confusion began to surface amongst the fans, all the players and coaching staff of the men's first team quit soon after. The board of directors came under fire as fans and players criticised the running of the club. The board decided to hold a meeting at the club on Friday to address fan concerns and inform them of the most immediate plans to tackle the crisis. Shine Radio attended the meeting and spoke with members of the board afterward to ask why it had come to this and what the next step. https://www.petersfieldtownfc.co.uk/ . Petersfield Rugby Club had itself an away fixture at Wimborne in what turned out to be a very fiery game indeed. https://www.petersfieldrfc.club/ . In the Haslemere table tennis league, the battle is emerging for the title between the Petersfield A side and College Hill. Finally the stormy weather subsides and field sports return. Petersfield rugby club have accepted the challenge of proving they can mix it with the best sides in Regional 2 South league. All that needs doing now is to show it. In the Hockey, the mens 1st side have started to impress recently and it's starting to pay off into results and points. After a horrible result for Petersfield rugby club last weekend the pitch at Penns place is still not in fit condition for a game so opponents Havant kindly suggest having the fixture at their ground.
