Mary Putnam, past President of Petersfield Lions appeals for good condition toys and games to be donated for the Christmas fair at the Festival Hall on 6 December (for the Queen Alexandra Hospital).

Donations can be left at Winton House on the High Street.

As well as supporting this cause Mary speaks about their envelop drop and Tesco street Collection which goes to other local charities - like the Kings Arms, the CAB, Home Start Butser, Fitzroy and the Foodbank.

Speaking to Mike Waddington, she says Petersfield is very generous and that small gifts make a big difference.

Petersfield Lions launch their Christmas Appeal 

Heather Coulson runs her own business, the Home Projects Companion, from Stroud. 

She recently joined the Stroud Village Hall Board as a Trustee.

She launched her business to help people with domestic projects - from making your own cleaning products to larger work on your home; running courses as well as larger project work. 

She recommends going into business but works harder now, if flexibly, than when she had a 'regular job' and says it’s not for the faint hearted but likes it.

Speaking to Mike Waddington she talks about her motivations and challenges.

Lichens are fascinating growths, says Duncan Wright, from PALE - that’s Petersfield Area Lichen Enthusiasts.

Lichen are everywhere on the Heath - on the trees but also pioneering species also growing on the bins and you'll even find them on the wall by the Post Office. 

Duncan tells Mike Waddington all about them and the awe they inspire under the magnifying glass.

It’s good news from Stroud Village Hall, now covering its costs, a vital task to keep the Hall at the centre of the community.

Hall Manager Katy Lace tells us more about what has been going on, as they prepare for Village Halls week which runs from 16 to 22 March.

They also have some new trustees, Heather Coulson and Chris Holt, who talk to Mike Waddington about the role and what it involves for them and why they do it.

The Hall, they say, gives a focal point for the community, with lots of classes for all ages, parties, the Stroud Revels (July) and in April, with the Parish Council, the litter pick.
