Such was the case for volunteer Simon who was just out on a routine jog one morning

The Air Ambulance service is completely self funded and provides a vital service. It helps to reach the most critically ill and injured people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, giving them the best chance of survival and recovery.

The Petersfield Sewing Bee returns for its 10th year, inviting sewers of all abilities to take on two creative challenges.

This year it was limited to 30 entries and they will be  displayed and judged ahead of a celebratory finals day on Saturday 25th July.

Shine Radio went along just after the 1st challenge was completed to speak to owner Jo Watts.

Councillor Jamie Matthews was Mayor of Petersfield for the first time nine years ago and this time wants to get to know even more voluntary and community organisations, 

Speaking to Mike Waddington and Julie Butler he says he has enjoyed his first six weeks and he will promote volunteering for as many organistions as he can and thinks more people can help Petersfield this way.  

He also talked about the neighbourhood plan - which does take time and covers roughly a15 year period and how it sets projects to retain Petersfield’s special character, which over time can find funding. He thinks that local Government reorganisation may speed decisions up.

He talks about his background, his family and his job - the Mayoralty is not a paid position.

HIs history in Petersfield stretches back decades but he's still finding things out about the town's organisations and people and is impressed by what  he has seen so far.
