Pat Wettone has been singing in St Peter's Church Choir since 1986 and the announcement, by the Rev Hughes, that she was retiring after 40 years was met with prolonged, appreciative applause.
Pat talks to Mike Waddington about her singing life, starting as a soprano and could, her teachers said, have made a professional career with her voice.
Instead she chose teaching and trod the boards of amateur musical productions - where she also met her future husband, Roger.
St Peter's intend to formerly mark Pat's retirement very soon.
