Local News for Tuesday 7th April

From Friday 22nd May to Monday 25th, East Meon’s All Saints Church, over 900 years old, will be transformed with 23 floral-themed displays, representing the many groups and societies in the picturesque village, with a green theme of foraged blooms - flowers and even weeds .

The festival raises funds for repairs and maintenance of the church, with its ancient Tournai Fount amongst its historic treasures.

There’s a full programme of music and talks throughout the festival and plenty of parking.

Organisers Clare, Jane and Ali tell Mike Waddington all about it and why the church is a significant part of life in the village.

Local news for Thursday 9th April

Counselling helps people come to terms with difficulties (like anxiety or bereavement) but many can't afford it, so Petersfield Counselling Service have offered a service based on ability to pay since 1980.

Referrals often come from GPs and Social prescribers and there is a one hour assessment to see if this would be helpful to you - and you can trial some sessions too.

The 20 counsellors are volunteers and are not paid; some are trainees (under supervision) to reach the 100 hours work as part of their qualification.

They offer online courses too and day time and evening sessions at Petersfield Hospital.

Paul, the Operations Manager, tells Mike Waddington about the service, ability to pay and their AGM on 7 May.
