Local news for Wednesday 21st May

Sara McCarthy took her Working Cocker Spaniel, Logan, to her local Canicross club a few years ago, to get outside a bit more. 

She and Logan have gained so much from the exhilarating sport of Canicross. Indeed, they love the sport so much that they recently joined the elite group of canine and human athletes that have completed an ultra-marathon.

Sara explains the joys of Canicross, the warmth of the Canicross community and the significant physical and mental health benefits of this burgeoning sport.  

A joyful and powerful advocate for the sport, she also explains what's next for the duo... the Canicross  triathlon - open water swimming, cycling and running with your dog.

From first steps to ultra marathon for Logan the spaniel

This year Herne Junior School in Love Lane, Petersfield is celebrating it's golden anniversary.

Jo Gray went along to a special exhibition being held in the school hall as part of the celebrations. She met parent Jo who is secretary of the school PTA, known as 'HAFS' (which is the Herne Association of Families and Staff) and daughter Lois who is a pupil at the school.

We also hear from teacher Michelle Armitage who organised the past pupil display.

Chloe Marie Aston is a piano player and singer with a difference.

She wants to break into the music business so is busking in every town in the UK - Petersfield makes it over 200 so far .

Chloe, 21, hopes it’ll get her work - she composes, plays and sings - recognised and her dad built her the bicycle with a piano attached to it!.

Chloe spoke to Mike Waddington; she likes Petersfield and passers by really liked her music!
