Local news for Monday 5th January

On the first Sunday of every month there's karaoke and chess at St Peter's Hall from 11am until 1pm, and, surprisingly perhaps, it’s organised by St Peters Church. 

It’s a social activity suggested by members of the congregation and features all types of songs (and singing), from the musicals to Take That! 

The Reverend Will Hughes tells Mike Waddington where the idea came from and the community ideal behind it. 

He also talks about their bell ringers and the choir but concedes he's yet to try the karaoke.

Local news for Wednesday 14th January

Local family support organisation Home Start Butser is 28 years old in February this year.

They have supported thousands of people over that time and are recruiting volunteers now for their next training course in March.

They are also re-running their Baby massage sessions in February (6 Feb to 13 March - see picture.) 

Home Start's Manager Nicola Winter tells Mike Waddington about what being a volunteer with a local family needs and what happens on the course (one day a week for five weeks).

They are also looking for Trustees too.
