Havant and East Hampshire MIND’s Great Elf Run 2026 is returning again this year. 

 It’s all set to bring festive cheer to the local community, with participants raising vital funds to support mental health services across the area.

They are looking for 200 runners and walkers to their themed festive event.

Shine Radio spoke to Anika Sanders to find out more about the event that runs on Sunday 29th November.

Pecan, the Final Straw Foundation and the West Sussex Rivers Trust have organised a clean-up of the River Rother tributaries in the town.

16 people are needed on both days, Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September.

There's also a community event outside Waitrose on 19 September to find out more about what's happening and what you can do.

It’s important, says Helen Littlejohn, from Final Straw and PeCAN, but it’s also about local pride.

River Rother clean up starts with local and personal action

With one week to go, the lively Petersfield Library are still pressing their campaign to encourage children to read six books over the summer - there are prizes.

Manager Stephen Atkinson tells Mike Waddington about it, why it's important, and all the other events and activities they have there (like the heart monitoring hiring scheme) and in the community (like the Dementia Festival.)

They're also preparing for Autumn and being a community hub, right in the middle of Petersfield.
