For Our Earth Week, Petersfield environmentalist Melanie Oxley updates us on COP16, not to be confused with the COP29 climate talks.

It's another gathering of international parties but centred on global biodiversity.

Melanie explains what's been happening, what the UK's contribution has been and how it plays out on the global stage. She also shares practical tips on we can all make a difference right here at home.

Melanie is speaking to Shine Radio volunteer George. Their conversation was recorded on 30 October.

Local news for Friday 15th November

It's National Tree Week from November 23 to December 1.



The Tree Council have provided trees and hedgerow to improve the recreation area in Bells Hill and also replace some of the trees lost to Elm Disease.



The Council are asking for volunteers to help on Saturday 30 November between 10am and 3pm.



Register on the town council website



Mike Waddington spoke to Town Councillor Ann Stephenson and Phil Paulo from the Tree Council.



They speak about the event, working with FitzRoy who were commissioned to develop tree management skills and some of their locally grown trees will be planted in Bells Hill on 30 November.

They also spoke about celebrating trees and Petersfield's trees in particular.
