Bedales, the Independent School in Steep, with over 750 students, is backing legal action against the government over the practicalities and human rights issues around the 20% VAT levied on school fees, confirmed in the Budget on 31 October.
The Head of the School, Will Goldsmith, spoke to Mike Waddington about what Bedales provides and why its ideas around education have been presented to three Parliamentary Committees in the last year.
Will talks about supporting the community and how best Independent schools can 'pull their weight.'
He also talks about a Gala event for the Friends of Steep Church, to be held at Bedales on Saturday 9 November, 7:30pm, hosted by the BBC's Frank Gardner.
Will says its a great job to hold and the 'respectful but robust' challenge the schools ethos provides.
