A local chimney sweep is reassuring Petersfield householders after a string of scare stories about wood burners.

False suggestions have circulated on social media that new legislation could ban the stoves.

It's true the government has introduced fines for using the most polluting fires and the wrong fuel, and new rules mean certain types of wood are being restricted from sale to help reduce emissions.

But Meon Valley sweep Katie Foster says if you burn seasoned logs properly you have nothing to worry about:
